  1. Success with Social Media involves a learning curve so I’ll gladly admit to mistakes I made.

In my early days I once paid for so called targeted followers only to find that not one posted in English. In fact they didn’t even use our alphabet.

I ran myself ragged trying to develop accounts on too many different platforms at once. I couldn’t do justice to any of them.

I’ve found that consistency is important. When I post a variety of content regularly to Facebook(3-5 posts a day), my messages are shown to more people. I’ve been a bit slack recently and less people are seeing my updates again.

This is a superb infographic, Jacs. It sums up the most important mistakes really well.

    1. Thanks so much Sue, it is great to see a brief summary of tips! Easy to digest and check ourselves against! I too fell for that paying for followers early in the facebook era, but soon worked out, like you, they were certainly not targeted!!

I agree, consistency does reap it’s rewards ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Yes. some handy tips here ๐Ÿ™‚

People search only using hashtags on Instagram to find targeted followers, but 30 is a huge amount… apparently the optimum number is 11.

You’re right, different sites do have there own optimum procedures ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Hi Jacs – a beautiful, informative infographic! It’s going on my Pin board. I’ve done a lot of study on social media – mainly through research for a course on Twitter and a course on Pinterest. I try to avoid those mistakes, but I did start with too many platforms too soon. I’ve had to backtrack and clean up my act as I learned that there are better ways to do things.

Thanks for sharing this with us.

    All the best,

Thank you, learning social media is a huge project, and starting small and concentrating on key platforms and strategies is definitely the way. I bet there’s loads like us doing the backtracking!!

thank you for that lovely comment … it was a great summary, and I think we all need a reminder from time to time. It’s easy to have a quick ‘refresher’ with an infographic ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hi Mandy,

Yes!! Social Media Marketing is usually a series of trial and error and gradual improvement… but now there is more guidance around to hopefully ease the mistakes ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Hi Erika,

thanks for your visit and comment. Indeed Grammarly is useful for spelling etc. Sometimes it’s fun to create your own hashtag in relation to your blog, for sharing on all platforms which will link to your content mainly.. you could use #transformyourdreams or your full tagline just as an example, people will find you that way ๐Ÿ™‚

      warm wishes,

    1. Hi Robin,

      thanks for visiting ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy you have seen the light for finding targeted followers now! But you are right, many get sucked in to the ‘buying followers’ system when they start out. Lucky we learn ?

  4. Hello Jacs,

I will admit to some of those mistakes – particularly the overwhelm one! It’s hard to keep up, and sometimes I think I should kill off a couple of my Facebook pages.

Funnily enough I’ve tried seeral times to kill off some old Twitter accounts but I just can’t get rid of them LOL. I did the “ask and wait 30 days” thing, but that was months ago!

I don’t really do justice to the platforms I’m on, so no use getting myself onto Instagram etc.

One think I never did was pay for followers / likes, so at least I didn’t waste money there.

    1. Hi Joy,

well I guess it depends what you can keep up with!

I’ve certainly focused right down, and use some sharing automation for profiles not in my direct focus right now, but have found a system that works.

I think each business deserves it’s own plan … but you’re right, definitely not by buying followers. It’s only a simple plan to find targeted ones… which is what counts!!
